Sri Lanka have been asked to play in CWC Qualifier tournament to play in CWC 2023, 50 over ODIs. Netherlands have reached finals of the tournament along with Sri Lanka. They tried their best to win against such a huge International team. But Netherlands could not chase the score of 233 to win the final. Sri Lanka won the tournament by 128 runs.
Netherlands won toss and elected to field first. Sri Lanka opened in a circumspect manner in Harare. Kusal Mendis(43), Sahan Arachchige(57) and Charith Asalanka(36) helped them to score 190/7 in 38.2 overs. Wanindu Hasaranga scored 29 runs off 21 balls. Sri Lanka scored only 233 runs in 47.5 overs. Vikramjit Singh(2/12), Ryan Klein(2/42), Logan van Beek(2/40), Saqib Zulfiqar(2/59) and Aryan Dutt(1/51) took wickets for Netherlands.
Maheesh Theekshana took 4 wickets for 31 runs for Sri Lanka. Netherlands got all-out for 105 in 23.3 overs. Wanindu Hasaranga(2/35) and Dilshan Madushanka(3/18) took other wickets for Sri Lanka. Max O’Dowd(33), Vikramjit Singh(13) and Logan van Beek(20) are the only Netherlands batters who scored in double digits. With this win, Sri Lanka have qualified to 2023 World Cup and Netherlands will be the 10th team to play the tournament in India.
