
Sri Lanka needs to win against New Zealand by 2-0 to confirm their place in World Test Championship Finals. Australia by winning third Test against India in Border-Gavaskar Trophy, entered WTC Finals. India needs to win fourth Test at Ahmedabad to confirm their place. Sri Lanka has an outside chance to enter Finals, if they can beat New Zealand by 2-0. Sanjay Manjrekar, Indian commentator and ex-cricketer, declared that Sri Lanka team cannot beat New Zealand at their home.

New Zealand managed to win a tight game of cricket against England after losing out in the First Test without much fight. Sri Lanka had been asked bat first after New Zealand won the toss. Dimuth Karunaratne (50), Kusal Mendis (87), Angelo Mathews (47) did well to help their team reach 305/6 on First Day. Dinesh Chandimal (39) supported them well. Sri Lanka is looking to score above 400 and put New Zealand under pressure.

Dhananjaya de Silva (39) and Kasun Rajitha (16) are at the crease for Sri Lanka. Tim Southee (3/44), Matt Henry (2/65), Michael Bracewell (1/17) got wickets for New Zealand on the first day. Sri Lanka will hope to push their score beyond 400 and put New Zealand batting line-up under pressure. The hosts would be hoping for another great batting performance from Tom Latham, Devon Conway and Kane Williamson, Tom Blundell.
