South Africa have been failing to beat Australia in on-going ODI and T20I series. Australia have been able to whitewash South Africa in 3 T20I series and won first two ODIs as well. But SA has been unable to give fight to the mighty Aussies. Mitchell Marsh as Captain of Australia has been able to give them memorable victories, too. South Africa, finally, managed to succeed in winning big against their arch-rivals. Australia and South Africa have developed great rivalry on field and this match showcased it to an extent.
On a batting friendly pitch, Australia elected to field after winning the toss. Quinton de Kock(82) and Temba Bavuma(57) gave a huge start to South Africa by putting on 146-runs opening partnership. After their fall, Aiden Markram kept building on the innings with controlled aggression. Reeza Hendricks(39) and Marco Jansen(32) chipped in with helpful performances. Aiden Markram scored 102 runs off 74 balls. South Africa scored 338/6 in their 50 overs. Travis Head(2/39), Marcus Stoinis(1/58), Tanveer Sangha(1/64) and Nathan Ellis(1/69) took wickets for Australia.

In the chase, Australia openers gave a rollicking start. David Warner dismantled South African attack in first powerplay of 10 overs. He scored 78 runs from just 56 balls. Travis Head helped him in this attack with a 38 from 24 balls. Mitchell Marsh also scored 29 from 26 balls. Interestingly, South Africa started bowling attack with Aiden Markram and frontline pacers found to be ineffective on the pitch.
As the top three fell, Australia did not find solid partnerships from the middle-order. Young pacer Gerald Coetzee(4/50) rocked Australian middle-order and South Africa won the match with 111 runs by tumbling Aussies for just 227. Now, South Africa and Australia will play 2 more ODIs against each other in the lead up to CWC 2023.
