Sourav Ganguly talked about KL Rahul and his lack of form. He stated that when a cricketer doesn’t perform in India, then he or she has to face criticism. Sourav Ganguly stated people who opened for India before KL Rahul have set the standards high and hence, he will be criticised even more. He also opined that Indian Management and Selectors feel KL Rahul is an important part of the team. Sourav Ganguly stated that he is getting opportunities since, he has been assessed to be important.
He also opined that KL Rahul is having technical and mental issues to cope up with pressure. Sourav Ganguly pointed out to the fact that even best of batsmen have struggled in first Two Tests on spinning low wickets. So, it would be hard to just point out one person. But he did not state that a big innings is around the corner for KL Rahul. Sourav Ganguly said that he will have to find a way to score runs and silence his critics with consistency.
When asked about Shubman Gill, he stated that Indian Team rates him high and hence, he is consistently being played in ODIs and T20Is. But for Tests, Sourav Ganguly opined that he might have to wait for his time. He will also get as many opportunities as KL Rahul is getting, stated Indian ex-captain and BCCI ex-president. According to Sourav Ganguly, KL Rahul will find place in the final XI, in next two Test matches as well. He has been averaging as low as 17 in all Tests he played, since 2022. In this series, he struggled to make even one 25-run score.
