Shreyas Iyer, a key member for Indian middle-order has announced his return to form in the second One Day International. South Africa scored 278/7 in their 50 overs and Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan put up a huge 161 runs partnership in quick time to secure this victory for India. Shreyas Iyer completed his second century while Ishan Kishan missed his century by 7 runs.

Shreyas Iyer has been a concern for Indian team as his recent form worried captain Rohit Sharma and they needed him to consolidate the weak middle-order before 50-Over World Cup next year. With KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer in form, Ravindra Jadeja and Rishabh Pant can be used as floaters to keep a left and right combination going in the middle overs.

Going into details, India and South Africa have been playing a low key ODI series as most of the fans are eagerly waiting for T20I Cricket World Cup to take off. Shikhar Dhawan is captaining this almost India-A side while regular XI is in Australia for T20I CWC. Shreyas Iyer is a key batsman for this side and even bigger mix of things for 50-Over World Cup, happening next year in India.

South Africa won the first match with 9 runs and this time, Indian batsmen did not want to give them any chances. Earlier, while setting the target, SA lost Quinton de Kock early to Mohammad Siraj but Reeza Hendricks (74) and Aiden Markram (79) have put on a huge 129 runs partnership. Heinrich Klaasen (30) helped Markram but got out soon after him and David Miller (35) finished the innings to reach 278/7 with the help of Wayne Parnell(16). Shreyas Iyer came to crease after Shubhman Gill (28), who looked in great form got out.

Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan did not let the South African spinners settle down. Ishan Kishan got out for 93 and left from the middle with a heart break. But Shreyas Iyer scored 113 not out along with Sanju Samson 30 not out, to win the game for India in 45.5 overs. Captain Shikhar Dhawan appreciated team effort and wished to win the third ODI at Delhi on 11th October to win the series. South Africa post this match will fly directly to Australia for Cricket World Cup.

England Captain Jos Buttler decided to not involve in a controversy. Read here about it.
