Ravi Shastri, Indian cricketing legend, commentator and ex-Head Coach and famous cricketer, legendary captain and batsmen, ex-BCCI President Sourav Ganguly have always been at the war of words. Ganguly found Ravi Shastri comments too sharp, harsh for his liking when he was playing. On the other hand, recently, Ravi Shastri resigning as Head Coach for Indian Team has been said to be due to Ganguly’s involvement in choosing the team and his role as well.
Now, Sourav Ganguly has been forced to give up his BCCI President post after completion of his tenure while he has been hoping to continue. In this moment, Ravi Shastri made comments that really give fuel to the rumours about his feud with Ganguly. Ravi Shastri congratulated his friend and legendary bowler, Roger Binny for becoming new BCCI President.
Ravi Shastri said, ” I am congratulating my friend and teammate Roger Binny for his accession to BCCI President post. He has been a great servant to Indian Cricket and worked hard for Karnataka Cricket Association. I have seen him improve facilities and infrastructure in Karnataka grounds and hope he concentrates on grounds in smaller towns that are struggling to arrange basic facilities and infrastructure.”
Later, Ravi Shastri made interesting comments that caught most people attention. He said, “I have never seen any person become BCCI President twice. We might hope to do everything but we can only do somethings. Few things will definitely be left out.” These comments seem to have directed at Sourav Ganguly and give fuel to the rumours that because he did not want to plead or please Sourav Ganguly as head coach, he resigned. Many already believe that Ravi Shastri’s exit seems to have effected Virat Kohli’s captaincy and resulted in his resignation as well.
In any case, two legends for Indian cricket like Ravi Shastri and Sourav Ganguly having such war of words seem un-classy and unnecessary.
