IPL 2022 has given young batsman, Rajasthan Royals explosive opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal immense exposure and confidence to perform at big stages. The young player got call up for star studded and experienced Mumbai side in Ranji Trophy 2022. He scored 3 centuries in 3 matches, he played.
In the all important Semi Final, he scored back to back centuries in both the innings. He scored 100 in first innings and 181 in the second innings. And played key part in Mumbai securing unassailable lead against Uttar Pradesh to advance to finals.
He has been announced as Player of the match for his performance. Mumbai scored 393 in first innings and UP could only reply with 180. Mumbai wanted to push for a win but the match has been affected by rain and mainly, wet outfield. Hence, they batted out the second innings before officials declared it as draw. Mumbai scored 533/4 in second innings. Arman Jaffer (124), Hardik Tamore (115) scored centuries along with Yashasvi in both the innings.
In other semi-final, veteran team Bengal lost to a spirited Madhya Pradesh team. IPL star Rajat Patidar scored a Half-century in the second innings for MP along with captain Aditya Srivastava (82) to add to their first innings lead. Himanshu Mantri scored 165 runs for MP in the first innings and helped them to put up a score of 341. Bengal in reply scored only 273 despite Manoj Tiwary (102) and Shahbaz Ahmed (116) centuries.
Bengal started second innings with 350 runs target to win. Abhimanyu Easwaran made a half-century but Bengal team bundled out for 175 runs giving Madhya Pradesh 174 runs huge victory.
Ranji Trophy final will be played by MP and Mumbai on 22nd June till 26th June. Mumbai will look to win their 42nd title while MP will look to win their first ever Ranji Trophy. As Holkar team they have won 4 times and been Runner-up in other 6 seasons between 1945-55.
