Pakistan have been qualified in top position from Group A in Asia Cup 2023. India and Pakistan match has been abandoned due to rain but India did not thrash Nepal like Pakistan. Hence, Pak got the first spot while India is in second spot. Bangladesh have qualified to Super 4’s after Afghanistan failed to chase against Sri Lanka, in heart breaking manner. Pakistan and Bangladesh have played their first match of Super 4’s in Lahore. And Pak has been able to easily win against Bangladesh.
Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first. They lost first wicket for no score on board in the second over. Litton Das(16) and Mohammad Naim(20) could not play for long against spirited Pakistan pace attack. Shakib Al Hasan managed to bring innings on line with 53 runs off 57 balls. Mushfiqur Rahim played well to save Bangladesh sinking ship with 64 runs off 87 balls. But Haris Rauf broke the backbone of Bangladesh and the team got all-out for 193 in 38.4 overs. Haris Rauf(4/19), Naseem Shah(3/34), Iftikhar Ahmed(1/20), Faheem Ashraf(1/27) and Shaheen Shah Afridi(1/42) took wickets for Pakistan.
Pakistan needed to chase down target to show their superiority. Fakhar Zaman(20) fell early but Imam-ul-Haq held one end together. Babar Azam(17) could not play for long. Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq have put on 85-runs partnership to eliminate any threat for Pakistan. Mohammad Rizwan finished the successful chase with 63 runs off 79 balls and Imam-ul-Haq had set it up with 78 runs off 84 balls. Pakistan won the match with 7 wickets to spear. Haris Rauf got Player of the Match award for his 4/19.
