Pakistan are playing ODI series against Afghanistan at Hambantota. This is a dress-rehearsal for both the team for upcoming Asia Cup, 2023. Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first. Both the teams have depended on their bowlers in this match. Pakistan scored only 201 in their 47.1 overs.
Imam-ul-Haq scored 61 runs off 94 balls keeping them in contest. Shadab Khan(39) and Iftikhar Ahmed(30) scored better among other batters. Pakistan needed good partnerships but they found not many. Mujeeb Ur Rahman(3/33), Rashid Khan(2/42), Mohammad Nabi(2/34), Rahmat Shah(1/6) and Fazalhaq Farooqi(1/51) took wickets for Afghanistan. Pakistan needed their bowlers to fire to win the game.
Shaheen Shah Afridi gave a great start with 2/9 in his 4 overs. Pakistan found Haris Rauf taking wickets at regular intervals. He took 5/18 in 6.2 overs. Shadab Khan(1/0), Naseem Shah(1/12) took rest of the wickets. Afghanistan got all-out for 59 runs in 19.2 overs. Pakistan won the match by 142 runs. Haris Rauf got Player of the Match award.
