Pakistan cricket is facing issues after Asia Cup 2023 loss to Sri Lanka. They elected to bat first in the match and scored 252/7 in 42 overs. Pakistan struggled in the rain-hit match to restrict Sri Lanka from scoring the winning runs. While both the teams played till the last ball, Sri Lanka is now gearing up to play in Asia Cup 2023 Final. Pakistan, on the other hand, is facing new issues before CWC 2023. Right from internal politics to injuries to key players, they are facing major issues.
Naseem Shah, young Pakistan bowler, got injured while playing against India in the Super 4 clash. He bowled really well against Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill in the opening overs. While others struggled to restrict batters of India, he gave away less runs among all. Now, his injury is said to so serious that he could miss entire CWC 2023. Pakistan cricket team has sent him to Dubai for medical scans. According to initial scans, his injury is so serious that he could miss cricket for rest of the year.
Pakistan Cricket Board has announced that medical panel will watch closely and then decide about his future. On the other hand, reports suggest that captain Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi had heated words exchange. When frustrated Babar Azam, in his post match speech in pavillion, stated that Pakistan players needs to play better, Shaheen interrupted him. Both had heated words exchange and Mohammad Rizwan had to stop them. Popularly, Pakistan had been subjected to such internal issues between players and politics as well. These issues can build internally so much that groupism could grow. Will this effect their performance on the ground? We have to wait and see.
