
New Zealand had to fight hard in the first Test against Sri Lanka. But the second Test has been made easy for them by their batters. New Zealand won the second Test by an innings and 58 runs. They imposed follow-on after dismissing Sri Lanka for 164 in the first innings. Sri Lanka batsmen showed better resistance in the second innings but they could not stop the inevitable. New Zealand won the match with authority.

Sri Lanka lost Kusal Mendis (50) and Angelo Mathews (2) early. Dinesh Chandimal (62) and Dhananjaya de Silva (98) mixed aggression with caution to resist New Zealand bowlers. They have put on 126 runs partnership for 5th wicket. As the partnership broke, Nishan Madushka (39) and Kasun Rajitha (20) tried to stay in the crease. But New Zealand seamers Tim Southee (3/51) and Blair Tickner (3/84) brought Sri Lanka innings to an end.

Michael Bracewell (2/100), Doug Bracewell (1/58) and Matt Henry (1/59) took other wickets at important times for New Zealand. Sri Lanka had to win the Test series by 2-0 and they found courage to fight in the First one. Kane Williamson gave New Zealand victory on the last ball. This seems to have hurt Sri Lanka and the big partnership between Kane Williamson and Henry Nicholls also demoralized them. New Zealand won the Test Series by 2-0. Kane Williamson got Player of the Series and Henry Nicholls got Player of the Match awards.
