MS Dhoni fans have been tensed up that IPL 2023 would be his last. He did not play in any other tournament or cricket match in 2022. MS Dhoni started practicing in February for CSK in 2023. Fans of the legend and CSK team have traveled everywhere CSK played and filled most stadium with Yellow jersies. Many wished for MS Dhoni to win the IPL title this season.
Even MS Dhoni stated that fans have been showering him with love. Hence, for CSK it has become important to reach finals and win the trophy. On the day of the finals, before entering into the ground, MS Dhoni took time and controlled his emotions. He entered with his team and led them into the final day bout with GT. The fielding of CSK seemed ordinary and even bowling did not have much venom. It all came down to batters winning the match for CSK and MS Dhoni.
They won the cup despite odds being in favour of GT most of the time. MS Dhoni got duck out and entire stadium got shocked during the chase. But Ravindra Jadeja finished the match in a stunning manner. He said that he did it for MS Dhoni and even tweeted that for Dhoni, he would do anything. Virat Kohli and many others have wished MS Dhoni for the 5th IPL Title in 11 finals, he played. He equalled Rohit Sharma record for most IPL trophies.
Post the match, MS Dhoni looked to be overpowered by emotions. He lifted Ravindra Jadeja up, who made a stunning finish at his home ground in Gujarat. He took a victory lap and ran to MS Dhoni. Entire ground and CSK fans got emotional. MS Dhoni, silently, handed over the trophy to Ambati Rayudu, who announced his retirement and Ravindra Jadeja, who won it.
MS Dhoni in the post match presentation stated that it would be great time to announce his retirement. But it would to hard to come back and play one more season for CSK. He stated that he will try to do the hard thing. He is suffering with a knee injury and he has to recover from it. MS Dhoni stated that he will take 6-7 months time and then decide about coming back in IPL 2024. As CSK won the title, this year, final will be held in 2024 at Chepauk. Fans want him to return and play his last match, that is, final at Chepauk as his wish and win another title. MS Dhoni might be tempted to do the same and we wish he does so!
