LSG has made history in IPL 2023. Teams have been scoring 200 for fun this season. LSG took the matter one step further. They scored second highest score ever in IPL history. RCB scored 263/5 and 248/3 to register first and second highest scores, earlier. They have the distinction of lowest score, 49 all out, too. LSG broke the second highest score record by scoring 257/5 in 20 overs.

KL Rahul, the captain of LSG, has been very slow to take off this season. He failed again but others came together. Kyle Mayers took off and he scored 54 runs off 24 balls. Ayush Badoni came at No.3 and he batted well. He scored 43 runs off 24 balls. Next came the big hitters – Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran. Both of them kept the scoring rate higher than the start. Nicholas Pooran scored 45 runs off just 19 balls. Marcus Stoinis scored 72 runs off 40 balls. LSG batsmen did not let Punjab Kings bowlers settle into any line and length.

Only Rahul Chahar managed decent figures with 4-0-29-0, with an economy rate 7.25. All others went for over 13 runs per over on an average. LSG after making 257/5 in 20 overs gave away 201 runs in 19.5 overs. Atharva Taide with 66 off 36 gave Punjab Kings the momentum to make 201 in this humungous chase. LSG have showed that when all the batters come together they can be the biggest destructive force. Wonder how come they failed to chase 136 runs against GT, one week before this match. Well, that’s cricket for you!
