Jofra Archer has been the main asset for Mumbai Indians, this IPL 2023. They wanted him to get fit and play for them. Mainly, in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, they desperately needed Jofra Archer. The tall Enlgish fast bowler, tried his best in few games. He bowled well but not at his absolute best. Jofra Archer has been now ruled out of IPL 2023.
This is a big shock to MI or Mumbai Indians. They have almost emptied their purse to buy him in the Mega Auction. Many thought Jofra Archer and Jasprit Bumrah in tandem, will break backs of other teams. But both of them have been injured and not at their best, even when they took the field. Now, Jofra Archer has been replaced in the squad by Chris Jordan.
ECB has been closely monitoring his progress. They have decided to call him back home after going through his progress. Jofra Archer has tried to push through pain in his right elbow to play for MI. But that has proved costly and delaying his full recovery. ECB in their statement said, “However, pushing through the discomfort whilst recently playing, hoping it will settle, has proven challenging. Therefore, it has been agreed for him to return to the UK for a period of rest and rehabilitation to give him the best opportunity for a full recovery.” ECB has agreed to replace Jofra Archer with Chris Jordan for the remainder of the season for MI. Mumbai Indians are set to play against RCB on 9th May.
