IPL 2023 has given a nail-biting final to round-off a great season. No team looked settled and RR, who looked a must for Playoffs, failed to cross the line. Punjab Kings looked highly inconsistent. KKR had Rinku Singh magic winning them some matches. CSK found IPL 2023 to be their comeback from 2022. Even MI came back from ending the tournament at 10th place last year. IPL 2023 has given chances to some great young talents to shine and some forgotten warriors came back into reckoning.
Ajinkya Rahane after being ignored by most teams from 2018-2022, had a sensational season. He did not score too many runs but his strike rate and 19 balls 50, makes him biggest comeback King of IPL 2023. Mohit Sharma proved to be great with his slow balls in the death. His resurgence even terrified CSK in the final over. IPL 2023 belongs to him as he took third highest wickets for GT. Shivam Dube can be named comeback King too. Not many thought he would perform as he did. In IPL 2023, Dube showcased his hitting game and smacked 35 sixes.
Coming to exicting young talents – Shubman Gill scored more than 800 runs and Yashasvi Jaiswal scored more than 700 runs. They too could be next big opening pair for India. Ruturaj Gaikwad will give them both run for their money. IPL 2023 has produced a finisher like Rinku Singh for Indian Cricket. He will definitely be assessed and observed closely in coming years. If he continues to perform like he did in IPL 2023, he will be the next big finisher for India.
Sai Sudharsan, Tilak Varma, Akash Madhwal have showcased their talent consistently. Akash had a bad game in the Qualifier 2, but he will return in IPL 2024, with even better skills. Sai Sudharsan showcased his talent in the middle order for GT and if he performs like he did in IPL 2023 final, he will definitely knock on the Indian door. His close competition will be Tilak Varma. The young player showcased his temperament and shot selection prowess for MI in IPL 2023.
Among Overseas players – Naveen-ul-Haq, Noor Ahmad, Matheesha Pathirana have been highly impressive. They added value to their respective franchises. MS Dhoni used Matheesha Pathirana as death bowler in IPL 2023 and young bowler will sure be a star. Noor Ahmad could bowl well in a high scoring Final when Rashid Khan failed to contain. He and Naveen-ul-Haq will be dependable players for Afghanistan. IPL 2023 has given chances to these players to showcase their prowess consistently and made them into players we can look forward to in future.
