IPL 2023 has been scheduled around Karnataka elections. The organisers have decided to classify 10 teams into two groups and made sure that some play once and others twice. IPL 2023 has now entered the last leg. Almost all the teams have played 11 each, except for RCB, MI, DC and SRH. Over the next 12 days, till 21st of May, every team will play 14 each in 74 total matches. Hence, we can say that IPL 2023 has entered its last leg.
If you look at the table, GT is firmly on top place with 16 points. CSK is at second place with 13 points. LSG has been on 11 points in third place. KKR, RCB, Punjab Kings, MI and RR are on 10 points each. DC and SRH are at bottom with 8 each. SRH and DC recent wins have made the table more interesting. KKR won last night and they also announced their contention for IPL 2023 qualifiers.
RR seems to be finding ways to lose in their last few games. KKR has been unpredictable and SRH got lucky. DC is dependent on Phil Salt and Mitchell Marsh to come good. But the interesting fact of the schedule in IPL 2023, no team has clear advantage.
CSK will play DC twice – at Chennai and Delhi. They also have a match with KKR. They play twice at their home. If their bowlers showcase similar form as they did against LSG and MI, then they have chance to qualify with points. GT has almost confirmed their qualification but they need one win at least in next matches to end up in Top 2 positions. In IPL 2023, LSG need two wins from their next 3 matches to qualify.
All teams that are on 10 and 8 points, this IPL 2023, might look at 14 being the best bet for them. Because every team has showcased that they can beat any other team on their day. MI and RCB match will definitely take one team into 3rd place above LSG with 12 points. RR, Punjab Kings have been on a decline and inconsistent.
So, they need to sort out issues to be in contention. When it comes to KKR, they are heavily dependent on spin-friendly conditions and Rinku Singh, Andre Russell flourishing finish. For DC, they play CSK and Punjab Kings twice each in their next 4 matches. It would be hard to anticipate them to beat these two teams twice back to back. Well, IPL 2023 has opened up the competition completely without giving anyone clear advantage on another!
