Inzamam-ul-Haq has decided to step down from the position of chief selector. It is not because of possible Pakistan early exit from CWC 2023. The team has lost 4 consecutive matches for the first time in a World Cup. Inzamam-ul-Haq has been pointed out by PCB in an open letter. Major experts and fans of Pakistan cricket are commenting on him and Babar Azam captaincy, as well. Hence, Inzamam-ul-Haq resigning from his position seemed to be obvious.
But the news reports have stated that he stepped out because of “possible conflict of interest”. Inzamam-ul-Haq is an active director of UK-based company called Yazoo International Ltd. The company has 4 directors and he is one of them. Another director is Talha Rehmani, managing director of Saya Corporation, an agency that represents many of the Pakistan cricket team’s most prominent players. Pakistan Cricket Board has pointed out this fact for including players into the team on a consistent basis. Intisar-ul-Haq, brother of Inzamam-ul-Haq, is working as secretary to the company.

Hence, the accusations of Inzamam-ul-Haq favoring players like Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi and several others. He met with PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf at Lahore. He resigned after this meeting. Well, after resigning he stated, “I am stepping down from the post to offer the PCB the opportunity to conduct a transparent inquiry about the conflict of interest allegations raised in the media, If the committee finds me not guilty, I will resume my role as the chief selector.” The investigation could be completed in the next few months.
