India Women U-19 team led by Shefali Varma has made history. Team has won U-19 World Cup against strong Australia Women and England Women teams. India Women U-19 team reached Semi Finals after topping the Group 1 in Super Six. They played their Semi-Final against New Zealand Women and chased down 107 in 14.2 overs, scoring 110/2. India Women reached final against England Women.
They won the toss and elected to field first at Potchefstroom, South Africa. India Women team bowled out England Women for 68 runs in 17.3 overs. With a simple score to chase, India Women did not want to take many risks. Captain Shafali Verma (15), Gongadi Trisha (24), Soumya Tiwari (24) made sure that India Women chase the score and win the title.
India Women won by 7 wickets, by scoring 69/3 in 14 overs. Titas Sadhu (2/6), Archana Devi (2/17), Parshavi Chopra (2/13), Mannat Kashyap (1/13), Shafali Verma (1/16), Sonam Yadav (1/3) did well for India Women in the bowling department and played key roles in this famous World Cup win for India. Titas Sadhu won Player of the Match and England Women captain Grace Scrivens won Player of the Tournament for her 293 runs.
