India Women Cricket team entered into Asia Cup Finals after knocking out Thailand Women rather easily in Semi-Finals. Pakistan and Sri Lanka are fighting it out to meet India Women in the finals. Shefali Varma, the India Women star opener came good in the all-important Semi Final match while Smriti Mandhana failed.
Thailand Women elected to field first against India Women hoping to restrict them for a low score. Previously, India Women bowlers dismissed Thailand Women to meagre 37 runs in the competition. India Women started the innings cautiously for a bit and Shefali Varma got into rhythm from the second over. Smriti Mandhana got out after scoring 13 runs but Shefali Varma carried on with her onslaught.
Jemimah Rodrigues (27) and Harmanpreet Kaur (36) steadied the ship in the middle overs after Shefali Varma’s blistering 42 runs innings. Pooja Vastrekar (17) helped India Women put 148/6 score on the board. Thailand Women managed to score only 74/9 in their 20 overs. Nattaya Boochatham and Naruemol Chaiwai did well with bat scoring 21 each. Deepti Sharma returned with fabulous 3/7 figures in 4 overs while Rajeshwari Gayakwad also put up brilliant 2/10 figures in 4 overs.
India Women lost to only Pakistan Women in the competition and fans of cricket and India are hoping to meet Pakistan Women in the final and win the Asia Cup for the seventh time.
