India has been in great form ever since Asia Cup 2023. They won the cup in a great style. Now, India started playing against Australia as preparation for upcoming ODI CWC 2023. It has become important the cricket team to find their right balance and perfect side for CWC. India has decided to test their bench strength in the first two ODIs of this series. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will return into the side for third ODI. India won the series by 2-0 in a thumping manner.
Australia won the toss and elected to field first on a hot day. The team has missed some important players has they wanted to test their bench strength as well. India lost Ruturaj Gaikwad early, but Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer have come together in a great fashion.
They both have put on 200 runs in partnership and both of them have hit centuries too. Shreyas Iyer announced his comeback with 105 runs in 90 balls. Shubman Gill continued his good form with 104 runs from 97 balls. Suryakumar Yadav(72) and KL Rahul(52) gave huge finish in the end. India scored 399/5 in 50 overs. Cameron Green gave away 103 runs and took 2 wickets.
During the chase, Australia had to lose overs due to rain. David Warner had to pull out something special as Matthew Short(9) and Steve Smith(0) got out early to Prasidh Krishna. Ravichandran Ashwin brought India back into match by taking David Warner(53), Marnus Labuschagne(27) and Josh Inglis(6). Sean Abbott(54) and Josh Hazlewood(23) gave Australia respectability for penultimate wicket partnership. Australia got all-out for 217 in 28.2 overs. After rain delay, Australia needed to score 317 in 33 overs, by DLS method. India won the match by 99 runs.
With these two ODIs, India has announced themselves as serious competitors for CWC 2023. Australia lost 5 ODIs consecutively and team needs to come together to give themselves big chance in upcoming World Cup. For now, India has played against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Australia, in preparation. Bumrah, Ashwin have announced their comeback with these series. Mohammed Siraj has also made a great impact. Let’s hope India will try to cross Semis issue this time around and win CWC 2023.
