India started their final preparation to CWC 2023, against Australia in Mohali. The conditions have been very hot and humid and not that cool opposing to popular belief. Also, little drizzle came down for a short period of time during the match. in short, it looked like India is still in Sri Lanka playing another cricket match. But under the hot Sun, Indian bowlers came up with the goods as Australia batters struggled to score freely. India won the match by 5 wickets with 8 balls to remaining in a convincing manner.
KL Rahul captained India and he chose to field first after winning the toss. Mohammed Shami sent off in-form Mitchell Marsh(4) early with a beautiful swinging delivery. David Warner and Steven Smith did not find their natural flow, straight away. Jasprit Bumrah and Shami kept them quite. Warner took to Ravichandran Ashwin but got out to Jadeja after scoring 52.

Steven Smith(41), Marnus Labuschagne(39), Cameron Green(31), Josh Inglis(45), Marcus Stoinis(29) and Pat Cummins(21) did pitch in but could not take off. Hence, Australia scored 276 in 50 overs. Jasprit Bumrah(1/43), Ravichandran Ashwin(1/47), Ravindra Jadeja(1/51) took wickets. Mohammed Shami took his best ODI figures for India with 5/51.
Shubman Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad did not let any kind of a chance for Australia, in the chase. They both have put on 142 runs for opening wicket in 21.4 overs. Both have them looked like winning the game in 35 overs, had they continued. Ruturaj Gaikwad(71), Shreyas Iyer(3) and Shubman Gill (74) got out quickly reducing India to 151/3.

KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan(18) studied for some time in the middle. Suryakumar Yadav joined watchful Rahul. Soon, he took over and scored 50 in 49 balls. He got out just with 12 runs to win and finally, KL Rahul finished with a six, after scoring 58. India has won the match with 5 wickets against Australia. India will play next teo matches in the series on 24th and 27th, respectively.
