India had to toil hard to get Australia wickets for two days in Ahmedabad Test. Australia batsmen batted for almost two days to score 480 runs. India bowlers had to be patient and work hard for wickets. Ravichandran Ashwin got his 32nd 5-for and he took 6/91. He bowled very tight lines and on a pitch that offered minimum spin, he worked hard. India scored 36/0 in 10 overs.

Usman Khawaja scored 180 runs and he did not expect to be such a force. Everyone expected David Warner and Steve Smith to pile on runs as they know Indian conditions. But India bowlers on the dust bowls of Indore, Delhi did not allow David Warner score. Steve Smith also ended up disappointing his team and fans with bat. India found Ravichandran Ashwin still in form with the ball while Ravindra Jadeja made a mark, after his return.

Axar Patel mostly scored with bat than ball. Cameron Green made use of the opportunities to score and made his first century. Mohammad Shami had to toil hard as well but he bowled economically for most of the innings. Umesh Yadav couldn’t find reverse swing too and he ended being most expensive. India needs Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli to come good on a pitch that seems to least help bowlers. With such huge score, Australia has pushed India on the back foot. Now, the hosts have to reply back strongly to be in the game.
