India has been touring in West Indies for Tests, ODIs and T20Is. They have been able to win Test series with 1-0 as second Test got washed away by rain. India has now started ODIs with West Indies. They will three ODIs and this will Kick start dress rehearsal phase for them to upcoming ODI CWC 2023. India has slam dunked West Indies in the first ODI.
India has won the toss and elected to field first. Hardik Pandya opened the bowling with white ball and gave early wicket. Kyle Mayers got out to him. A small partnership has been formed for 38 runs but it has been broken by Mukesh Kumar. Shardul Thakur took another wicket on 45. Captain Shai Hope(43) tried to salvage the situation. India introduced spinners Ravindra Jadeja(3/37) and Kuldeep Yadav(4/6). Both of them bundled out West Indies for 114 in 23 overs.
Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill(7) opened the innings for India. Suryakumar Yadav entertained with 19 during his stay. Hardik Pandya(5) failed. But Ishan Kishan went on to score 52. Ravindra Jadeja(16) and Rohit Sharma(12) finished the job. India won by scoring 118/5 in 22.5 overs. Interestingly, both the teams have played same number of overs. Kuldeep Yadav got the Player of the Match Award. India is now leading the series with 1-0.
