India clean sweeps against New Zealand in the ODI series

Shardul Thakur scored 25 runs and got 3 important wickets. Hence, he got Player of the Match. Shubman Gill scored 360 runs in the series and he won Player of the Series.

India has become No.1 ODI team in ICC ODI rankings. India needed to win the New Zealand ODI series at home with 3-0, in other words, clean sweep the opponents. They have managed to do the same and won the third ODI at Indore with 90 runs margin. India scored 385/9 in 50 overs and in reply, New Zealand got all-out for 295 in 41.2 overs. Devon Conway made 138 runs from 100 balls putting New Zealand in contest.

Rohit Sharma lost the toss but got to bat first on a batting friendly pitch and along with Shubman Gill made merry. He scored his 20th ODI century and Shubman Gill scored another century in the series. India cruised to 212/0 in 26 overs but soon lost Openers wickets. Hardik Pandya (54), Virat Kohli (36), Shardul Thakur (25) helped them to reach 385/9 in 50 overs after middle-order collapse. India has put up a difficult total to chase for visitors again after the first ODI match. Blair Tickner (3/76), Jacob Duffy (3/100), Michael Bracewell (1/51) got wickets for New Zealand.

New Zealand soon lost Finn Allen for a duck to Hardik Pandya. Devon Conway and Henry Nicholls (42) have put on 106 runs partnership threatening India. Later, Daryl Mitchell (24) joined Devon Conway and New Zealand looked like chasing the total. Shardul Thakur sent Daryl Mitchell and Tom Latham in back-to-back balls. He soon sent back Glenn Phillips (5) also in his spell. Michael Bracewell (24) and Mitchell Santner (36) tried to repeat the first ODI magic but they couldn’t. India got them all-out for 295. Shardul Thakur (3/45), Kuldeep Yadav (3/62), Yuzvendra Chahal (2/43), Hardik Pandya (1/37), Umran Malik (1/52) did well among bowlers.

He said at the presentation, “Feels nice and when you perform well. It’s satisfying. I’ve not changed my approached much. I look to convert those starts into big ones, to express myself. I try to play according to the situation and conditions, not looking at may score. Our bowlers did a good job and bowled really well on this wicket because at one point it looked like it could go either ways.” India team will now play New Zealand for 3 T20Is.
