India won ODI series against Sri Lanka and now, they are playing against New Zealand at home. In the first ODI at Hyderabad, India won by 12 runs after hitting 349/6 and dismissing New Zealand for 337, as Michael Bracewell almost pulled off an impossible win. In the second ODI at Raipur, India decided to bowl first and then dismissed New Zealand for a meagre 108. India scored 111/2 in 20.1 overs to register another series win at home.
Mohammad Shami has been named as Player of the Match and he took 3/18, in the match. Glenn Phillips (36), Michael Bracewell (22), Mitchell Santner (27) tried their best to complete 50 overs but India bowlers in 34.2 overs bowled them out for 108. Rohit Sharma scored handsome 51 runs in the chase and Shubman Gill finished the task with sublime 40. Well, India dominated New Zealand in the second match to show how the visiting team lack a solid core batsman like Kane Williamson to help them build an innings in 50 overs cricket.
Now, if India pulls off 3-0 series victory, then they can top the ICC ODI Rankings as NO.1 team. Rohit Sharma and team have been consistent at home, bilateral ODI series and they deserve to be ODI No.1 team but they have to find a solid XI and need everyone to chip in and contribute for winning World Cup at home after 12 years. India will be looking to keep this at-Home dangerous team form even in World Cup as well, to repeat what MS Dhoni team achieved in 2011.
