GT and CSK are playing IPL 2023 Final. Interestingly, IPL 2023 is ending as it started. GT and CSK played the first match of IPL at Ahmedabad. Both the teams are playing at Ahmedabad on 29th May, 2023. The match had to be postponed to reserve day due to rain on 28th May, 2023. GT has been asked to bat first by CSK upon winning the toss.
MS Dhoni looked completely ready at the toss. But his team did not look ready on the field. Deepak Chahar dropped the easy catch given by Shubman Gill. MS Dhoni had to manufacture his wicket with his fast hands behind the stumps. Shubman Gill scored 39 runs from 20 balls giving GT a great start. They scored highest powerplay score in an IPL final with 62/0. GT has set the stage perfectly.
Sai Sudharsan unveiled his hitting side against CSK. He belongs to Chennai and he decided to spoil the day for CSK. He scored 96 runs off 47 balls and missed century. He started off slow and then took off. GT got a huge value for his wicket. Old war horse, Wriddhiman Saha came to the party for GT and scored 54 runs off 39 balls. GT have been helped by sloppy fielding of CSK.
Except for MS Dhoni no one stopped the ball or caught a catch. Even Ravindra Jadeja missed a straight-forward run-out. Hardik Pandya scored 21 runs off 12 balls. GT has scored 214/4 in 20 overs. CSK has to chase 200 plus and put a highest total record to win the title. Matheesha Pathirana(2/44), Deepak Chahar(1/38) and Ravindra Jadeja(1/38) took wickets for CSK. GT seems to be set for winning second title in consecutive years after winning it in 2022.
