GT made a huge statement by winning their first IPL tournament in 2022. Now, in IPL 2023, they have been again dominating with their all-round performance. After losing two matches, GT came back and won against RR, with their bowling coming good. RR managed to only score 118 runs in their 17.5 overs. GT scored 119/1 in 13.5 overs and won by 9 wickets.
At Jaipur, RR elected to bat first after winning the toss. Jos Buttler(8) failed again and even Yashasvi Jaiswal(14) couldn’t do much. Sanju Samson scored wonderful 30 from 20 balls. GT bowlers got Devdutt Padikkal(12), Ravichandran Ashwin(2), Riyan Parag(4) and Shimron Hetmyer(7) quickly. Dhruv Jurel(9) also failed and Trent Boult managed to score 15 runs. RR got out for 118 in 17.5 overs. Rashid Khan(3/14), Noor Ahmad(2/25) did not RR batters settle in the middle overs. Everyone bowled well.
Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill scored 71 runs in 9.4 overs. They have clearly established GT win in the match. Hardik Pandya scored at quick pace. He scored 39 runs off 15 balls. He got into Adam Zampa by hitting him for three sixes in the same over. Wriddhiman Saha scored 41 off 34 balls. Shubman Gill scored 36 off 35 balls. GT won by 9 wickets with 37 balls remaining. This win has firmly placed them in first position with 14 points. Rashid Khan won the Player of the Match award.
