But Ghana did not make it easy for Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal. Ghana took 9 shots at goal with 3 on target. They had 38% ball possession, made 387 passes with 81% accuracy. For the first half both the teams did not give each other any chance to score. Portugal dominated it but still had less chances to score. Cristiano Ronaldo changed the situation by converting a penalty in 65th minute. With that goal, he became first football player to score in 5 FIFA World Cups. Cristiano Ronaldo scored a total of 118 International goals for Portugal. Ghana skipper Andre Ayew scored in 73th minute to equal the scores. Portugal strikers Joao Felix in 78th minute and Rafael Leao in 80th sent the ball past goal post to take score to 3-1.

Ghana striker Osman Bukari scored in the 89th minute to push the scoring to 3-2 and give Portugal jitters. But Portugal managed to not let Ghana score and Cristiano Ronaldo started Portugal campaign in this World Cup with a win. Portugal is now on top of table in Group H.
