England started off Ashes 2023 on a strong positive note. They batted on the first day of first Test at great speed and declared too. Many experts thought Bazball is maddening the cricket quality played by England after that decision. Australia chased the target and won the first Test. But the same technique gave them chance in Fourth Test and won them Fifth Test. England gave a fairytale send-off to one of the all-time great fast bowlers, Stuart Broad.
Broad took the final wicket and confirmed England win. Australia openers have put on 140 runs partnership. England got ball changed after 35 overs. This helped them to take wickets. David Warner(60) and Usman Khawaja(72) got out back-to-back. Steven Smith and Travis Head tried to put on a partnership to save match for Australia and push them for a win. Ben Stokes took Steve Smith catch but due to his celebration, Smith has been given not out.
Steve Smith went on to score 54 runs and Travis Head scored 43 runs. Todd Murphy(18) and Alex Carey(28) tried to chase down the target. Stuart Broad in his swansong got both the wickets and helped England win the match. Chris Woakes(4/50), Moeen Ali(3/76), Stuart Broad(2/62) and Mark Wood(1/34) took wickets. England won the fifth Test by 49 runs. Australia got all-out for 334. England and Australia ended the Ashes 2023 on 2-2 scoreline.
As Australia won the urn, last time, they won it again. England found chances to win the series but threw them out. In the fourth one, weather did not help them. Chris Woakes became Player of the Match and Player of the Series for England. Mitchell Starc took 23 wickets and he got Player of the Series for Australia. Stuart Broad got a memorable send-off by winning his last Test and Ashes Test.
