New Zealand shocked everyone with their flawless performance against World Cup winners England, in their first match. CWC 2023 has started on a huge note with their victory. They have made a statement that they are not a weak team in this World Cup. Also, New Zealand showcased that they have enough firepower to put any team under trouble. Now, they have followed it up with a big victory. New Zealand thrashed Netherlands in their second group match.
Netherlands have won the toss and elected to field first. New Zealand took this opportunity to put a big total on the board. While no one got a century, every batter chipped-in for them to score 322/7 in 50 overs. Will Young(70), Rachin Ravindra(51), Tom Latham(53) and Mitchell Santner(36) contributed heavily to the score. New Zealand could have scored more than 400 had they not lost wickets at regular basis after a partnership.

In the chase, Netherlands found bits and pieces in the innings rather than a collective effort. Colin Ackermann(69) stood out with a good fighting innings. Scott Edwards(30) and Sybrand Engelbrecht(29) helped him in lower middle order. Mitchell Santner took 5/59 cementing New Zealand authority against a weaker opposition. Netherlands got bundled out for 223 and NZ won by 99 runs.
Matt Henry(3/40) contributed to the bowling effort. Mitchell Santer for his all-round brilliance got Player of the Match award. New Zealand have now won their both games and will face Bangladesh, next.
