India needs to win against Sri Lanka to cement their qualification at Top 1 and 2 positions, in CWC 2023. Their 6 out of 6 wins has confirmed their qualification but this win will cement 1 or 2 positions. Hence, they have to come up with a big performance once again. Sri Lanka won against England but lost to Afghanistan and Pakistan. So, they need a win to better their chances of qualification.
Sri Lanka have won the toss at Wankhede and have decided to bowl first. Many looked at the match as repeat of India vs Sri Lanka, 2011 final. Well, Dilshan Madushanka gave a great start by dismissing in-form Rohit Sharma for 4, on the second ball. Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill came together but SL fielders dropped the chances given by them. India could have easily found themselves 3 wickets down in first ten overs.

Shubman Gill(92) and Virat Kohli(88) have made the opportunity count. They both have put on 189 runs partnership but missed out on centuries. Dilshan Madushanka got them both out in consecutive overs after 30 overs. At this point, India needed Shreyas Iyer to fire. He scored 82 runs to take the team score beyond 340.

With Ravindra Jadeja scoring 35 in the final overs, India scored 357/8 in 50 Overs. Dilshan Madushanka took 5 wickets for his team. With this kind of a batting performance, they have established that they can set a big target like South Africa. Sri Lanka did not even score 50 runs in Asia Cup Final, when they met one month ago. Let’s see, if they can score 358 to win.
