India has crushed Sri Lanka in the recently concluded Asia Cup Final. Bowlers have repeated the similar performance in CWC 2023. Sri Lanka needed to score 358 runs to win. But they lost their first wicket on the first ball bowled by Jasprit Bumrah.
Immediately, Mohammed Shami has put them under huge pressure by taking two wickets in the next over. Sri Lanka have been reduced to 3/4 in no time with Siraj getting another wicket. Angelo Mathews(12) and Charith Asalanka tried to save their team from bowling out under 35.
But Mohammed Shami has immediately dismissed Asalanka and Dushan Hemantha. Most Sri Lanka batters have got out on “0”. Maheesh Theekshana(12) and Kasun Rajitha(14) tried their best to save their team from getting bowled out below 35.

Had they been bowled out they would have made a dishonorable record of lowest total ever. Canada got bowled out for 36 against SL back in 2003. They came together at 29/8 and because of them Sri Lanka got bowled out for 55 in 19.4 overs, which looked unlikely.
India bowlers again repeated Asia Cup Final senario. India won by 302 runs and this is their biggest margin victory in CWCs beating 257 difference against Bermuda in 2007.

Mohammed Shami took 5/18 and became highest wicket taker for the team with 45 wickets. He has beaten likes of Zaheer Khan and Javagal Srinath to achieve such a feat. Mohammed Siraj took 3/16 and Bumrah took 1/8. Ravindra Jadeja took the final wicket and ended the game.
India with this victory has officially qualified to Semi-Finals and they have also almost confirmed Top 1 or 2 position on the table. Their next match with South Africa will determine the final standings, most probably.
