Ben Stokes, their saviour has come good against Netherlands to change their ill-fate. He scored a century, 108 runs from 84 balls to help them put up 339/9 in 50 overs at Pune. England have won the toss and elected to bat first. Dawid Malan has come good by scoring 87 runs in 74 balls. Joe Root got out in a disappointing fashion after scoring 28 runs.
Chris Woakes by scoring 51 runs off 45 balls helped Ben Stokes to take score past 300. In the final 5 overs, they have managed to score 90 runs. In the chase, Netherlands, did not look to have any chance. Teja Nidamanuru(41), Scott Edwards(38), Sybrand Engelbrecht(33) and Wesley Barresi(37) scored runs. Netherlands got bowled out for 179 runs in 37.2 overs.
This 160 runs win has helped England to place themselves at 7th position. This will give them some confidence before facing Pakistan for their last match in CWC. Moeen Ali(3/42) and Adil Rashid(3/54) came good for this match. Ben Stokes has won Player of the Match award for his performance.
