India has been in great form in Super 4’s of Asia Cup 2023. They won against both Pakistan and Sri Lanka in a very convincing fashion. But India struggled against Pakistan in the group match. Shakib Al Hasan scored 80 from 85 and Towhid Hridoy 54 from 81 saving Bangladesh from a poor start. Nasum Ahmed(44) and Mahedi Hasan(29) helped them cross 260. Bangladesh scored 265/8 in 50 overs. Shardul Thakur(3/65), Mohammed Shami(2/32), Prasidh Krishna(1/43), Axar Patel(1/47) and Ravindra Jadeja(1/53) took wickets for India.
In the chase, Rohit Sharma got out for a duck. Tilak Varma(5) also got out early. KL Rahul(19) and Ishan Kishan(5) also failed. Shubman Gill tried to continue his lone man effort even though he kept losing partners. Suryakumar Yadav (26) and Axar Patel(42) assisted him in putting partnerships for India. After scoring 121 runs from 133 balls with breath-taking fashion, he got out for a simple out-field catch. Axar Patel tried his best but still India got bowled out for 259 in 49.5 overs. Mustafizur Rahman(3/50), Tanzim Hasan Sakib(2/32), Mahedi Hasan(2/50), Mehidy Hasan Miraz(1/29) and Shakib Al Hasan(1/43) restricted India.
Shakib Al Hasan won Player of the Match award for his all-round performance. India seemed a bit too complacement in the match while batting. Young Tanzim Hasan Sakib made a huge impact by dismissing Rohit Sharma and Tilak Varma, early. Still, with Shubman Gill batting like a dream, India always have been in the hunt till his wicket. Now, the youngster needs to learn how to close the matches after bringing them so close. Bangladesh did not win against Sri Lanka and Pakistan, still they have beaten India, who looked the best of the lost in Asia Cup 2023 teams. Now, India and Sri Lanka will play Final on Sunday, the 17th of September.
