Australia humbled England in the bilateral ODI series by whitewashing the series by 3-0 scoreline. Australia won all three matches over England dominating them giving answers to some long shot claims like England will win against team even with England A team.

Rain decided to interrupt twice and officials decided to go ahead with 48-over match. England won the toss against Australia and decided to field first. Travis Head and David Warner opened for Australia and negated swing in the opening overs. Travis Head rode his luck and kept scoring away. He reached to his century in the 27th Over and scored it in 91 balls. David Warner played risk free cricket and went on to score 106 runs from 102 balls. On his way to score his 19th Century in ODI cricket, he completed 6000 ODI runs for Australia. Both Travis Head and David Warner kept a partnership of 269 runs in 38 overs. They have become second opening pair to put up 250 runs partnership twice post Sachin Tendulkar-Sourav Ganguly pair.

Travis Head continued to score 152 runs off 130 balls and this is his 3rd ODI Century for Australia. David Warner ended his century drought for Australia from 2020 and he roared after completing the century. Unfortunately, Melbourne crowd did not turn up in large numbers to witness it. In fact, the attendance has been lowest in decades at MCG. Steven Smith (21), Marcus Stoinis (12), Mitchell Marsh (30), Alex Carey (12), Marnus Labuschagne (8) and extras 14, helped Australia score 355/5 in 48 overs. Olly Stone took 4 wickets for England.

England needed to score 364 in 48 overs according to DLS method to win the match. Jason Roy scored 33 runs off 48 balls and James Vince 22 runs off 45 balls, after Dawid Malan (2) fell early. England seemed to have given up on chasing with Australia bowlers finding good rhythm. Moeen Ali (18), Sam Curran (12), Liam Dawson (18), David Willey (12) failed to make any impression. Jos Buttler (1) also failed to score.
