Australia tumbles in the Shami’s sensational last over

India and Australia have played a warm-up match at Brisbane in the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup on 17th October. Mohammad Shami bowled sensational last over to get three wickets off his bowling and one run out.

India and Australia have played a warm-up match at Brisbane in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on 17th October. While Group-A and Group-B qualifier matches to Super 12 have started from 16th October, main tournament between the major teams or Super 12 matches will start from 23rd of October. A1 and B2 will join Group 1 while B1 and A2 will join Group 2. India is part of Group 2 and Australia is in Group 1. Australia won the last edition of the ICC T20 Men’s World Cup in Dubai.

The warm-up match had Indian opening batsmen, mainly, KL Rahul going after Australia pacers. KL Rahul smashed pace bowlers in the first six overs and got out to Maxwell in the 8th over, after scoring 57 runs of 33 balls. He helped Indian score 78 runs in 7.3 overs, before he got out. Rohit Sharma (15), Virat Kohli (19), Hardik Pandya (2) had a mixed day while Suryakumar Yadav again proved himself to be a value edition to Indian middle-order. He scored 50 runs off 33 balls against Australia bowlers. Kane Richardson took 4 wickets and restricted Indian scoring rate. Dinesh Karthik (20), Axar Patel (6) and Ravichandran Ashwin (6) finished the Indian innings on a high to score 186/7 in 20 overs.

Australia started chase with Mitchell Marsh and Aaron Finch smashing Indian bowling to tethers. Marsh (35) got out to Bhuvaneshwar Kumar in the 6th over after putting on an opening partnership of 64 runs. Aaron Finch found form during the innings and went on to score 76 runs off 54 balls. Steve Smith (11) and Glenn Maxwell (23) couldn’t really get going as much as Finch needed them to. During the last overs of the chase, Australia found themselves in tight situation, due to this aspect.

After Finch got out, Australia still looked like pulling this off but Mohammad Shami bowled sensational last over to get three wickets off his bowling and one run out. He bowled only the final over in the innings and got the Yorker right to restrict Australia to 180 all-out. He gave away only 4 runs and got 3 wickets, helped in 4th one, run-out.

India will play New Zealand in their next warm-up match on 19th October. New Zealand lost to South Africa in their warm-up match. South Africa bundled NZ out for 98 and chased down the target in 12 overs by losing only one wicket. Australia has already played T20 series against England and hence, they and England had only one warm-up match scheduled, each.
