Former cricketer and Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh said the people have the right to decide how the nation remembers him. He asked those who want to resign from his Rajya Sabha seat to first reveal how much the Punjab seat was sold and to whom.
Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh said that those who are calling him a traitor should ask how much he sold his Punjab Rajya Sabha seat. Responding to a comment on a social media platform, Harbhajan Singh asked them to disclose to whom and on whose behalf how much was paid. Without naming anyone, Harbhajan Singh said a political party burnt an effigy outside his house and wrote ‘traitor’ on it. He said that the people of this country will decide how to remember him. Harbhajan Singh, who was a cricketer and entered politics, recently left the Aam Aadmi Party and joined the BJP. Aam Aadmi Party elected him to Rajya Sabha.
On the same issue, Devender Yadav asked Harbhajan Singh on Channel X, “Why didn’t you resign from the Rajya Sabha seat that was offered to you by a leader who insults you day and night? What compelled you to join the BJP, which has caused the deaths of over 800 farmers in Punjab? How much do you value your conscience?”
Responding to user X, MP Harbhajan Singh wrote, “When the time comes, your every point will be answered. And I have not insulted any of your leaders. Why should I dirty my tongue? And those who call me a traitor, ask them how much they sold the Punjab Rajya Sabha seat earlier. If they don’t tell me, to whom and from whom, I will tell you how much was given as a gift. And Punjab.” I will also tell you who was made a minister or a watchman to loot and deliver goods to Lala. They looted the Punjab.”
Responding to another user, Harbhajan Singh said, “Didi, it was the political party that burnt my effigy outside our house and wrote ‘traitor’. Common people don’t do such things. Who ordered the party members to do all this?”
Harbhajan Singh said, “This country has given me a lot of love. I have brought glory to the country in the field of sports for 20 years. But you people think that just getting a name is enough and it will last forever. This only shows their low minded way of thinking. Let the people of this country decide how to remember me. I don’t care if some paid troll writes trash about me.”
Former cricketer Harbhajan Singh joined Aam Aadmi Party in 2022 and became Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab. When there was a major split in the Aam Aadmi Party in April 2026, he left the party along with seven other Rajya Sabha MPs, including Raghav Chadha and Swati Maliwal.
