CM Vijay’s Surprise Visit to Stalin Sparks New Political Debate

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay is acting differently from previous Chief Ministers. In the history of Tamil Nadu, whichever government came to power, there was a culture of taking revenge on the opponents. That culture came to a full stop during the previous Stalin era. However, the current Chief Minister Vijay is acting differently.

CM Vijay himself visited the residence of former CM Stalin who lost in the latest elections. When Vijay comes home, Stalin greets him with a shawl. First, Udayanidhi Stalin gave a warm welcome. Later Stalin embraced. It seems that Stalin was asked to have many suggestions, advices and experiences. Naturally, no Chief Minister goes to the houses of defeated opponents. But Vijay’s visit to Stalin’s residence led to a new debate in the country’s politics. After meeting Stalin, Vijay met another MDMK leader Vaiko. He is meeting the opposition leaders one after the other.

No party got a clear majority in the Tamil Nadu Assembly election results released on May 4. Vijay-led TVK emerged as the single largest party with 108 seats. Stayed 10 seats away from the magic figure. This caused political uncertainty in the state for 5 days. Vijay’s swearing-in was postponed after Governor Arlekar said that he will take oath only if he comes with a full majority. With this, Vijay’s strength reached 120 with the support of Congress, VCK, Muslim League and Left parties which are part of the DMK alliance. With this, Vijay took oath as Chief Minister on Sunday. On Monday morning, all the MLAs took oath in the Assembly. Vijay took oath first.. then all other MLAs took oath.
