YSRCP Lok Sabha floor leader PV Midhun Reddy reiterated the demand for Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh in the Lok Sabha on December 13. On the floor of the house, he said, “YSRCP has more than 20 Lok Sabha MPs, we have raised this issue more than 100 times in various formats but the central government is yet to respond to it. We demand special category status. It is the right of the people of Andhra Pradesh.”
Adding to that, he mentioned, “Our State was bifurcated against our wishes in a very unjust manner. In the first year of State bifurcation, the per capita income of Telangana was ₹15,454 crore compared to ₹8,979 crore of AP. We inherited 56% of the total population and only 45% of revenue. We also inherited 60% of the debt. Under these circumstances, it was promised on the floor of the House by the Prime Minister that the Special Category Status would be given to AP. The promise has remained unfulfilled even eight years after the State bifurcation and needs to be looked into.”

YSRCP remains committed to the people of Andhra Pradesh. Jagan Reddy led Government has yet again walked the talk by raising Andhra issues at the national level and the party promises to do so until the Centre resolves the matter.
