As a part of his 5-day visit, Foreign Minister Jaishankar met with U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Friday. He said the talks between India and the United States have further strengthened the strategic partnership and contributed to the expansion of the bilateral cooperation agenda.
Mr Jai Shankar said that it was a pleasure to meet Secretary Antony Blinken. He called it a productive discussion on various aspects of bilateral cooperation as well as regional and global issues. In the meeting, they covered Indo Pacific and the Quad, Afghanistan, Myanmar, UNSC matters and other international organizations.
It also focused on the Indo-US vaccine partnership aimed at expanding access and ensuring supply. He appreciated the strong solidarity expressed by the US at this time. Today’s talks have further solidified our strategic partnership and enlarged our agenda of cooperation.
He especially thanked the superpower for its assistance in the war on Corona. During his meeting with US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, Jaishankar discussed ways to further strengthen the strategic and defense partnership between the two countries, the Indian Foreign Ministry said. They also exchanged views on security challenges.
