The doctors are using Remdesivir injection for corona patients who are seriously ill. However, recently there has been a severe shortage of this drug. With this, the state government has sold Remdesivir drugs at special counters in Chennai as well as Madurai, Coimbatore, Trichy, Tirunelveli and Salem.
At the same time, the spread of the coronavirus gradually decreased. The ICMR ordered that this drug not be used for corona victims. As a result, demand for the drug has plummeted. However some doctors are using this drug for corona patients.
In this context, the Central Government has supplied 5 lakh Remdesivir drugs free of cost to the State. In fact, the value of these drugs is Rs 80 crore. However, the central government supplied it for free.
