Supreme Court has heard arguments from Maharashtra ex-CM Uddhav Thackeray side and Current CM Eknath Shinde side. Uddhav Thackeray has filed a petition in Supreme Court asking them to disqualify Eknath Shinde Government. CJI and bench of judges heard arguments from both sides. CJI has expressed concern about then Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari actions. Supreme Court has stated that he had erred in his actions.
They opined that Governor did not have objective material to conclude Uddhav Thackeray doesn’t have majority support. Supreme Court also stated that the exercise of discretion of the governor in this case was not in accordance with the law. They stated that they cannot reinstate Uddhav Thackeray as Chief Minister as he resigned. Supreme Court has let Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis continue in the government.

Court also stated that they cannot disqualify Eknath Shinde as MLA. They stated that the power rests in the hands of Speaker until a large panel of judges is appointed. Fadnavis welcomed the judgement and stated that Eknath Shinde chose ideology over power. Uddhav Thackeray called it as their “Moral Victory” and called for Shinde resignation like him. Uddhav Thackeray group has stated that BJP has hit “lowest standards of immorality” in this case.
