
Due to the rise in Omicron variant cases in India, several states have banned New Year 2022 celebrations on roads. Karnataka, Telangana governments banned New Year celebrations on roads and also congregations.
Now, the Tamil Nadu government has joined this league.
Police Commissioner of Chennai Shankar Jaiswal said that they prohibited celebrations on beaches and roads.
In Chennai, they allowed restaurants and hotels to operate but banned dancing and DJs. The CP said that they’ve deployed 10,000 police officials on duty on 31st December night.
