
Polavaram Project height needs to be increased say AP Government. YSRCP MP has asked Union Government to give a clarification about the height of the project. Union Government confirmed that the Polavaram Project is limited to 41.15M. Prahlad Singh Patel, Minister of State for Jal Shakti, answered to MP Satyavathi in Parliament. Polavaram Project is still under construction even after 6 years and it could take more time.
Recently, YSRCP Government in the state discussed about the possibility of increasing the height. They asked for permission from Union Government about the same. Union Government has stated that Polavaram Project height has been fixed for now. It cannot be altered as Union Government has given permission only water storage to that height. Polavaram Project evacuation is limited to that height only.

Union Government has confirmed evacuation and rescue packages have not been completed yet. Even though by March, 2023 they had to be completed, only 20,946 families have been confirmed so far. Polavaram Project evacuation is still going on. And only, 11,677 families have been evacuated and received rescue package. Polavaram Project related works will start once the cofferdam repair works will be completed.
