Marri Shashidhar Reddy, son of Marri Chenna Reddy – Congress Chief Minister for United Andhra Pradesh, resigned for Telangana and Indian National Congress Party. Marri Shashidhar Reddy worked as former union minister and has been expected to become a key leader in Telangana Congress. But he lost his popularity among Congress cadre, recently and after waiting for over six years, he has decided to move on.
Marri Shashidhar Reddy talking to press said that Telangana Congress has become a second unit for Telangana Rashtra Samiti, ruling TRS. And he blamed Utthamkumar Reddy, Telangana Congress President, for the lackluster performances of Congress in the state. Marri Shashidhar Reddy pointed out that Congress did not perform well under State President’s leadership but he has not been changed for last 6 years. Marri Shashidhar Reddy expressed grave dissatisfaction over Revanth Reddy and his political image.
Now, the senior leader is looking towards BJP, say political experts. Marri Shashidhar Reddy did not make any claims regarding the same but he did meet Home Minister Amit Shah and his inclusion in BJP could strengthen the party in Telangana state. Before the 2024 elections, many senior Congress leaders might follow the suite as Congress looks to have been weakened in Telangana State to such a level that it is not considered a competition for BJP and TRS. Losing a senior leader like him, is definitely a blow for Congress.
