Krishna River water sharing dispute stays unresolved!

Telangana is demanding equal sharing with AP. Tribunal has granted 66:34 ratio in favor of Andhra Pradesh. Telangana is asking for 50:50 among the total 811 TMCs water that flow in Krishna in both states. Andhra Pradesh wants the status quo to continue.

Krishna River water sharing has been a burning dispute between Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka states. Central Government has appointed Krishna Tribunal decades ago to resolve the issues. Andhra Pradesh has been now divided into AP and Telangana. New Krishna river water sharing dispute has arose between these two states.

Telangana is asking for 50:50 among the total 811 TMCs water that flow in Krishna in both states. Andhra Pradesh wants the status quo to continue. Karnataka and Maharashtra have accepted Tribunal distribution and restrictions in raising heights of Dams on higher grounds. Krishna River Management Board has been established to resolve issues between two states and look after Dam, water management.

The board has met at Jal Saudha in Hyderabad. KRMB have come to a conclusion that they cannot determine the water sharing ratio between both the states. They have stated that Krishna river Dams will be closely monitored. Any required and essential repairs will be completed before next season. They have further stated that the sharing ratio can only be determined by Krishna Tribunal and they will give detailed report to Central Government about the same.
