India PM Naredra Modi has announced his support to Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu and extended helping hand to Israeli victims. This gesture has been misinterpreted has highly Hindu religion favouring government going against Muslims. India had to clarify their stance on Palestine statehood. Atal Bihari Vajpayee supported peaceful solution in Gaza and formation of Palestine country. So, PM Modi stance to support Israel has also come under scanner of BJP purists. Now, India has released an official statement regarding Palestine statehood.
Ministry of External Affairs has released an official statement that India did not change their stance with regards to formation of a viable state of Palestine. “Our policy in this regard has been long-standing and consistent. India has always advocated the resumption of direct negotiations towards establishing a sovereign, independent and viable State of Palestine living within secure and recognized borders, side by side at peace with Israel”, said Ministry of External Affairs of India, in their statement.

This makes it clear. India supports UN peace treaty in Jerusalem and Gaza areas. Also, India wants to help Palestine in formation of their state and sustance. PLO chief Yasir Arafat got huge help from Indian diplomats in bringing peace in Israel and Palestine war, decades ago. But Hamas has damaged that peaceful co-existence formula and now, Israel got their excuse to fulfil their wish to occupy Gaza strip. Palestine will find support from major nations for their existence but Hamas will find more resistance. It is need to be seen if Israel will leave anything undamaged in Gaza strip for Palestianians to rebuild after this conflict.
