Himachal Pradesh has been facing devastating floods. Already state has received 30% of their annual Monsoon rainfall in just three weeks. On the other hand, Uttarakhand is also receiving huge amount of rainfall. Beas river has already devastated major centres in Manali and Kullu. Himachal Pradesh state is facing almost Rs.4415 crores losses, already. Most number of National Highways and roads connecting major areas have been damaged badly. Himachal Pradesh CM has cancelled Police Salute for VIPs in the state.
Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has taken this decision amidst floods. As IMD predicted more rains in the region in coming days, he has asked Police force to be used for rescue operations. CM has cancelled Police Salute till 15th September. For 15th August Independence Day celebrations, he has given an exception. Himachal Pradesh State Disaster department has announced that 188 people have died after the floods have started.
Even Ganga river has been flowing at all-time high level in Haridwar. Uttarakhand and UP States have been put on high flood alert. Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand floods are predicted to be hugely devastating in coming days. With rainfall predicted to be huge, governments are issuing high alert to people. Himachal Pradesh has taken this sensational decision and Uttarakhand might also follow the same.
