Election Commission of India decides which party is regarded as National Party and which party, isn’t. TRS from Telangana has become BRS to become a National Party. They have plans to contest in AP and also in Karnataka and several states. Election Commission has canceled those plans of BRS. They have stated that BRS will be state party, only in Telangana and it did not give state party recognition to it in AP. Election Commission also shocked CPI, TMC, NCP by canceling their status as National Parties.
CPI is a big shock as Communist parties have been seen as big opposition for right wing. One of them, CPI, losing National Party status is a big blow to them. Election Commission has even canceled National Party status for Trinamool Congress, TMC and Nationalist Congress Party, NCP. On the other hand, Aam Aadmi Party, AAP, got National Party recognition. They have taken this decision based on AAP contesting in Goa, Delhi, Punjab and Gujarat elections and results. Election Commission has taken some very radical and shocking decisions.
They have canceled state party status of RLD in Uttar Pradesh, PDA in Manipur. Also PMK lost state party status in Puducherry. RFC in West Bengal and MPC in Mizoram also lost their status as State Parties. Election Commission has canceled BRS status in AP, since, it did not contest elections in 2014 and 2019. According to Election Commission, only BJP, Congress, CPI(M), Bahujan Samajwadi Party and AAP remain are National Parties.
