Congress has managed to win in Himachal Pradesh assembly elections putting check on BJP winning both Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh on same day. Congress has been failing to form stable governments in various states since 2014. BJP on the other hand has been gaining in few and losing in few as well. Now, BJP won in Gujarat again for 7th time while they lost in Himachal Pradesh to Congress.
Congress won 36 seats out of 68 and are leading in 4 more. BJP won in 23 seats and are leading in 2 seats. If these stay as final, Congress will be winning 40 and BJP 25. Others have won 3. Congress is now fearing BJP trying to grab 10-11 MLAs from their party before oath ceremony. While they have enough number of seats to form government on their own, BJP can try to get 8 from Congress and attract 3 others to support them, to form government again.

Some MLAs who won in Himachal Pradesh are said to have been already shifted to Rajasthan and if these rebels join BJP, then Congress will not be able to form government. Will EC allow this kind of possibility or not, is yet to be seen but the news about BJP trying to attract MLAs of Congress into their party, has been spreading like wildfire. Anyways, Congress has been finally able to topple BJP wave in one state after being reduced to 3rd place in MCD polls. Congress might look to carry this momentum into 2024 elections but Gujarat win might give BJP more upper hand.
